A spring is not just a spring. When UMI set out to build its own spring line, the springs were designed in conjunction with a leading Sprint Cup chassis engineer. The front springs are wound from 5160 CrSi premium wire with a linear 600 lb/in rate, and the rear springs are wound from 9254 CrSi premium wire with a linear 130 lb/in rate. The linear rate delivers consistent handling for Auto-x and Pro-Touring use while the added stiffness reduces body roll and prevents the floating feeling common to the G-Body. Ride height is engineered for a 2 inch drop with standard small block as well as LS power, and lightened cars may require spring trimming. The front springs also suit full weight big block applications when a 1/4 inch nose down rake is desired. The springs have a black powder coat finish, and UMI manufactures them in the USA. V6 Turbo Grand National models may require spring trimming due to lower engine weight.
