The Texas Speed Super H-Beam Rod & JE L83 Drop-In Piston Combo pairs Texas Speed 6.125" Super H-beam connecting rods with JE 2618 forged pistons sized for the stock 3.780" bore of the Gen V 5.3L L83. The pistons are a direct drop-in and the set requires no balancing when used with the TSP rods and a stock GM L83 crankshaft, so a truck or SUV L83 can get forged rods and pistons without balancing work.
The pistons have a 1.300" compression height, 3.622" stroke, .927" wrist pin and a flat top with an exhaust valve relief for the L83's variable valve timing. Rod bearings and a file-fit ring set are included. Texas Speed makes the Super H-beam rods from heat-treated, stress-relieved 4340 steel, torques and re-torques them during machining so they stay round, fits L19 rod bolts and rates them for upward of 900 flywheel horsepower. Oil squirter clearance must be checked and adjusted after installation, and ring gaps, piston-to-wall and bearing clearances must be verified by the builder.
