The Texas Speed H-Beam Rod and JE LT1 No-Balance Piston Combo is a matched rod and piston package for the GM 6.2L Gen V LT1. It pairs Texas Speed 6.125" Super H-Beam connecting rods with JE forged pistons that are made to run with the factory LT1 crankshaft without balancing, so the short block can be rebuilt with forged internals while the stock crank stays in the engine. Rod bearings and a file-fit ring set ship with the kit.

The JE piston is a -6cc flat top with an exhaust valve relief cut for the variable valve timing used on the Gen V engines, a 1.300" compression height and a .927" wrist pin. The rods are heat-treated, stress-relieved 4340 steel with ARP L19 bolts, honed after a torque and stress-relief cycle so they stay round in service, and Texas Speed rates them for upwards of roughly 900 rear-wheel horsepower on this combo. Clearances must be checked by the builder before final assembly, and blocks with piston oil squirters may need clearancing.

    Kit Includes

    • JE forged 4.065" -6cc flat top no-balance piston set for the LT1 (JEP-TSP374237)
    • Texas Speed 6.125" Super H-Beam connecting rods with ARP L19 bolts, no-balance set of 8 (TSP-6125SHB-8-NB)
    • Rod bearings
    • File-fit piston ring set
    • GM main bearing set (GM-12729655), only if selected at ordering

    Ordering Options

The pistons, rods, rod bearings and ring set are always included. The Main Bearings option lets the buyer add a GM main bearing set (GM-12729655) to the order or decline it. No other selections are required.

Note: Ring gaps, piston-to-wall clearances and bearing clearances must be checked by the end user before final assembly to prevent engine damage. Verify piston-to-deck and piston-to-valve clearance with the head, gasket and rod combination being used.

Note: Blocks utilizing piston oil squirters may require clearancing. Follow ARP and Texas Speed torque specifications and use the recommended lubricants during assembly.

    Vehicle Applications

Engine covered: GM Gen V 6.2L LT1 (Texas Speed also tags the 6.2L L86 and L87). Vehicle list reflects the fitment published by Texas Speed; this combo applies to the 6.2L engine in the listed vehicles.

    FAQ

What engine does the Texas Speed H-Beam Rod and JE LT1 piston combo fit?

It is designed for the GM 6.2L Gen V LT1 and works with the factory LT1 crankshaft and its 3.622" stroke. Texas Speed also tags the combo for the 6.2L L86 and L87 truck engines, and the published vehicle list covers 2014 and newer Corvette, Camaro, Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon and Escalade with the 6.2L.

Why does the JE LT1 piston have an exhaust valve relief?

The Gen V LT1 uses variable valve timing, so the -6cc flat top piston in this combo is cut with an exhaust valve relief to clear the exhaust valve as cam phasing changes. The piston is otherwise a flat top design.

Does this LT1 combo need to be balanced?

No. Texas Speed states that no balancing is required when the JE LT1 pistons are used with the TSP Super H-Beam rods and the stock GM LT1 crankshaft, which is why it is sold as a no-balance combo.

What comes in the box with the LT1 rod and piston combo?

The combo includes the JE forged 4.065" -6cc flat top pistons, a set of eight Texas Speed 6.125" Super H-Beam rods with ARP L19 bolts, rod bearings and a file-fit ring set. A GM main bearing set is offered as an optional add-on at ordering.

What clearances need to be checked before assembly?

Texas Speed requires the end user to check ring end gaps, piston-to-wall clearance and bearing clearances, and to verify piston-to-deck and piston-to-valve clearance for the specific head, gasket and rod combination. Blocks with piston oil squirters may also need clearancing.
