The Texas Speed B.F.D. Chop Monster LS3 Camshaft is a naturally aspirated grind for 6.0L and 6.2L LS engines fitted with L92/LS3-style rectangular-port cylinder heads. Developed with Zac Mertens, known as the Chop King from Hoonigan, the B.F.D. series exists to deliver the most violent idle Texas Speed could build into a cam that still carries big power through the midrange and top end. The 110 degree lobe separation angle is what gives it that signature sound.
Texas Speed estimates a gain of 80 or more horsepower and recommends a compression ratio of 10:1 or higher. The cam requires TSP/PAC .660" dual valve springs, a stall converter of at least 3,200 rpm in automatic vehicles, and a 3.42 or steeper rear gear is listed as optimal. The operating range is 2,000 to 7,000 rpm. Texas Speed says the cam can be daily driven with the proper tune, and a custom tune is required after installation.

FAQ
What engines does the Texas Speed B.F.D. Chop Monster LS3 cam fit?
It is made for 6.0L and 6.2L LS engines running L92/LS3-style rectangular-port cylinder heads, such as the LS3, L99, L92 and rectangular-port 6.0L truck engines found in 2007 and later GM vehicles.
Do I need a stall converter with the B.F.D. LS3 cam?
Yes. Texas Speed requires an aftermarket stall converter of at least 3,200 rpm in automatic vehicles, and lists a 3.42 or steeper rear gear as optimal for this camshaft.
What valve springs does the Chop Monster LS3 cam require?
Upgraded valve springs are required. Texas Speed specifies its TSP/PAC .660" dual valve spring kit to handle the .600" lift and aggressive lobes of this grind.
How much power does the B.F.D. Chop Monster LS3 camshaft add?
Texas Speed estimates a gain of 80 or more horsepower on a naturally aspirated 6.0L or 6.2L rectangular-port LS with a compression ratio of 10:1 or higher. Actual results depend on heads, intake, exhaust and tuning.
Can the B.F.D. LS3 cam be daily driven?
Texas Speed says it can be daily driven with the proper tune, but rates the chop level as very aggressive and the usage as race or aggressive. Expect a heavy, attention-getting idle.
How is this different from the B.F.D. Stroker LS3 cam?
This 229/246, 110 LSA version is sized for stock-displacement 6.0L and 6.2L rectangular-port engines. The B.F.D. Stroker LS3 cam is a larger 240/252, 112 LSA grind intended for 400 cubic inch and larger LS stroker engines.
