The Texas Speed 347 to 398ci Resleeved Gen IV Aluminum LS Long Block is a built-to-order engine assembly that starts with a new Gen IV aluminum block fitted with Power Bore or Darton dry sleeves, which Texas Speed states have much higher tensile strength and are much thicker than the sleeves in a GM block. Every block is machined and assembled at the Texas Speed engine facility. This listing covers all 3.622" stroke combinations, from a 3.903" bore 347 up to a 4.185" bore 398, and Texas Speed recommends the 3.622" and 4.00" stroke versions for power-adder builds.
The buyer configures the engine at ordering with a crankshaft, 6.125" connecting rods, Wiseco or CP 2618 forged pistons with lowered ring lands for nitrous or boost, PRC cylinder heads, head bolts or studs, head gaskets, main studs, oil pump, rocker arms, timing set, balancer bolt and reluctor wheel. Oil and coolant plugs come installed. Texas Speed offers a 1/2" head stud upgrade with the required machine work for heavy nitrous or boost, and an optional LS2 conversion package for installing the engine in an LS1 vehicle. Twelve quarts of break-in oil are included, and the engine ships by truck freight with the final freight cost quoted after the order.

Ordering Options
Fifteen selections are required when ordering: Pistons (Wiseco 4.125" -1cc flat top or CP-Carrillo 4.125" -13.3cc dish), Rods (Texas Speed Super H-beam, Super I-beam or billet Super I-beam, Callies Compstar, Compstar Xtreme, Ultra H-beam or Ultra Enforcer I-beam, or BoostLine 3-pocket), Upgraded Wrist Pins (HD tool steel for Wiseco, .230" wall for CP, JE HD .200 wall, or none), Engine Block (customer supplied or new GM Gen IV 5.3L block), Balancer Bolt (ARP or GM), Crankshaft, Cylinder Heads (PRC 225cc through 285cc LS7), Cylinder Sleeves (Power Bore or Darton), Head Bolts/Studs, Head Gaskets (.040", .051" or .060"), Main Stud Kit (TSP/ARP studs or GM bolts), Reluctor Wheel (58x or 24x), Oil Pump (Melling high pressure or high volume), Rocker Arms (GM LS1, LS3 or LS7 sets with TSP trunnion or CHE bushing upgrades, or TSP steel 1.72 and LS7 1.82 roller rockers) and Timing Set (Rollmaster LS2 1x or LS3 4x). Texas Speed also offers an optional LS2 conversion package for LS1 vehicles; call for an itemized estimate.
Note: Power Bore sleeves are not available below a 4.07" bore size. Texas Speed does not recommend running larger than a 4.125" bore with any type of power adder.
Note: An LS2 conversion package (LS2 timing cover with cam sensor, LS2 valley cover, LS2 lifter trays, LS2-specific timing set and plug-and-play harness extensions for the cam position and knock sensors) is required when installing this engine in an LS1 vehicle and is offered by Texas Speed as an option.
Note: All engines ship via truck freight. Online shipping costs are not correct for this item; Texas Speed contacts the buyer with the freight cost after the order is placed.
Note: Twelve quarts of break-in oil are included. Texas Speed stresses proper break-in oil and procedures for ring seal, and recommends Driven HR2 conventional oil once break-in is complete.
Vehicle Applications
Built on a Gen IV aluminum LS block for Gen III and Gen IV LS-powered vehicles and LS swaps. LS1 vehicles require the optional LS2 conversion package; confirm 24x or 58x reluctor for the target vehicle.

FAQ
What is included in the Texas Speed 347 to 398ci Resleeved Gen IV LS engine?
The assembly includes a new Gen IV aluminum block with Power Bore or Darton dry sleeves, plus the crankshaft, 6.125" rods, forged pistons, reluctor wheel, balancer bolt, PRC cylinder heads, head fasteners, head gaskets, main studs or bolts, oil pump, rocker arms and timing set selected at ordering. Oil and coolant plugs are installed and 12 quarts of break-in oil, a cradle and a crate are included.
What displacements can this 3.622" stroke engine be built to?
Texas Speed lists nine bore sizes on the 3.622" stroke: 3.903" for 347ci, 4.005" for 365, 4.01" for 366, 4.03" for 370, 4.07" for 377, 4.100" for 382, 4.125" for 387, 4.155" for 393 and 4.185" for 398 cubic inches. Power Bore sleeves are only available from 4.07" up.
Which stroke should I choose for a boosted or nitrous build?
Texas Speed recommends the 3.622" and 4.00" stroke versions for power-adder applications and advises keeping the bore at 4.125" or smaller with boost or nitrous. The 4.10" and 4.125" stroke engines are recommended for naturally aspirated use only.
Will this engine work in an LS1 vehicle such as a 1998 to 2002 Camaro or C5 Corvette?
Yes, with the optional LS2 conversion package Texas Speed offers. It adds the LS2 timing cover with cam position sensor, LS2 valley cover, lifter trays, LS2-specific timing set and harness extensions needed for a Gen IV block in a Gen III vehicle, and a 24x reluctor should be selected.
Why are the Power Bore and Darton sleeves better than the factory GM sleeves?
Texas Speed states the Power Bore and Darton dry sleeves have much higher tensile strength and are much thicker than the sleeves used in GM blocks, which lets the block hold a larger bore and more power. Every resleeved block is machined and assembled at the Texas Speed facility.
Is a 1/2" head stud upgrade available?
Yes. Texas Speed offers a TSP 1/2" 12-point head stud kit for large nitrous or boost applications. Its price includes the ARP hardware and the machine work to the block, and the PRC aftermarket heads already have the larger bolt holes to accept 1/2" studs.
