Dropping an LS into your classic Camaro, Chevelle, Nova, GTO, or any number of popular GM A-body and F-body platforms? Speed Engineering's 1-7/8" LS swap longtube headers are engineered across the most popular classic GM chassis — mandrel bent, TIG-welded, and CNC-machined from 304 natural stainless steel with a merge spike and standard graphite manifold gaskets included. Compatible with the full LS engine family from 4.8L through 6.2L including LS1, LS2, LS3, LS6, and LSA.
⚠️ Important Installation Notes:
- A-body chassis only — confirm your vehicle is on the A-body chassis before ordering. Some model names (El Camino, Monte Carlo, Grand Prix, Cutlass) also came in G-body applications in certain years. These headers will have fitment issues on a G-body application
- LS swap applications only — these headers are NOT compatible with standard SBC or BBC engines
- Due to older vehicle frame clearance, headers fit very tight and require Speed Engineering spark plug wires
- 4L80E or older Turbo 350/400 transmission — bellhousing ears may need to be trimmed for proper clearance
- Note: Installed photos show 1-7/8" headers with 1" offset back motor mounts
Features:
- Full 1-7/8" Primary Tubes with Merge Spike — Maximum flow from cylinder head to collector for aggressive LS swap performance
- 3" Collector — Optimized for strong low-to-mid RPM torque
- Mandrel Bent Tubing — Consistent tube diameter through every bend; no crimping, no restriction
- CNC Machined Flanges — Precision fit at the cylinder head for a leak-free seal
- 304 Natural Stainless Steel Construction — Corrosion resistant, heat tolerant, and built to last
- Longtube Header Design — Maximum scavenging efficiency vs. shorty or mid-length headers
- Standard Graphite Manifold Gaskets Included
- Dyno Proven
- Compatible with 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, 6.2L, LS1, LS2, LS3, LS6, and LSA Engines
- V8 LS Engines Only
Vehicle Applications:
Note: All applications listed are LS swap conversions. These headers are not compatible with the original factory engines in these vehicles. A-body chassis only — will NOT fit G-body applications.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: How do I know if my vehicle is an A-body or G-body? This is an important distinction. The A-body and G-body share several model names across different years. Generally, Chevelles, El Caminos (1964–1977), GTOs (1964–1972), and early Monte Carlos (1970–1977) are A-body. Later Monte Carlos (1978–1988), El Caminos (1978–1987), and Grand Prix (1978+) transitioned to the G-body platform. If you're unsure, verify your chassis code before ordering as these headers will have fitment issues on G-body applications.
Q: Will these headers work with my SBC or BBC engine? No. These headers are designed for LS series engine swaps only and are not compatible with standard small block Chevy or big block Chevy engines.
Q: Do I need special spark plug wires? Yes. Due to tight frame clearance on older classic GM platforms, Speed Engineering spark plug wires are required for proper fitment with these headers.
Q: Will these fit with a 4L80E or older Turbo 350/400 transmission? These headers may require trimming of the bellhousing ears on 4L80E or older Turbo 350/400 transmissions for proper clearance.
Q: What is the difference between these 1-7/8" headers and the 1-3/4" LS swap multi-platform headers (25-1066)? The primary tube diameter is the key difference. The 1-7/8" headers offer a step up in flow for more aggressive builds with supporting modifications. The 1-3/4" headers are a strong choice for most LS swap builds across a broad RPM range. Both cover similar classic GM platforms.
Q: What LS engines are these headers compatible with? These headers are compatible with GM LS V8 engines including 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, 6.2L, LS1, LS2, LS3, LS6, and LSA.
Q: What material are these headers made from? 304 natural stainless steel with full TIG-welded construction, CNC-machined flanges, and a merge spike.
Q: Are gaskets included? Yes. Standard graphite manifold gaskets are included.
Q: Are these headers street legal? No. These are race-only headers intended for closed-course competition use only. Installation on a street-driven vehicle may violate the Clean Air Act (42 U.S.C. 7522(a)(3)).
⚠️ Race Use Only: This product is manufactured and sold for installation on vehicles used solely for competition.
