The Texas Speed Gen IV 5.3L DOD Delete Kit removes the Active Fuel Management (AFM, also called Displacement on Demand) system from 2007 to 2013 GM 5.3L Gen IV LS engines that do not have variable valve timing, and replaces the factory camshaft with the Texas Speed Chopacabra truck cam. The kit gathers the lifters, lifter trays, head gaskets, head bolts, valley cover, timing parts and gaskets needed to convert the engine to a full non-DOD setup in one order.
The Chopacabra camshaft is the choppy-idle truck grind Texas Speed designed to run with a factory torque converter, so the kit solves AFM lifter failures and adds sound and performance at the same time. A 3-bolt cam sprocket with new cam bolts, a camshaft retainer plate, an LS2 chain damper and an L92-style valley cover with no DOD provisions complete the conversion. A custom tune is required after installation to disable AFM in the ECM and calibrate the engine for the new camshaft.
