The Texas Speed Gen 4 Engine Conversion Package gathers the parts needed to run a Gen IV LS engine in a vehicle that originally came with a Gen III LS. A Gen IV engine reads cam position at the front timing cover and places its knock sensors on the outside of the block, while a Gen III vehicle harness expects a cam sensor at the rear of the block and knock sensors under the valley cover. This kit supplies the LS2 style covers and harness extensions that bridge those differences in one order.
Included are an LS2 style valley cover with gasket and bolts, four LS2 style lifter trays, an LS2 style timing cover assembly with cover, gasket, bolts, cam sensor and cam sensor harness, a Rollmaster 11-CS1180 single roller LS2 timing set with a 1x upper timing gear, and the cam sensor and knock sensor harness extensions. The package does not include a crankshaft reluctor wheel; if the Gen IV engine must be converted from 58x to 24x, Texas Speed stocks GM reluctor wheels separately.

FAQ
What is included in the Texas Speed Gen 4 to Gen 3 conversion package?
The package includes an LS2 style valley cover with gasket and bolts, four LS2 style lifter trays, an LS2 style timing cover assembly with cover, gasket, bolts, cam sensor and harness, a Rollmaster 11-CS1180 single roller timing set with a 1x upper gear, a cam sensor harness extension and a knock sensor harness extension.
Why do I need a conversion kit to put a Gen 4 LS in a Gen 3 vehicle?
Gen IV LS engines read cam position at the front timing cover and mount their knock sensors on the sides of the block, while Gen III vehicle wiring expects a rear cam sensor and knock sensors under the valley cover. The Texas Speed package supplies the LS2 style covers and harness extensions that let the Gen III harness connect to the Gen IV engine.
Does this kit include a 24x reluctor wheel for the crankshaft?
No. Texas Speed states the package does not include a new reluctor wheel. If the Gen 4 engine needs to be converted from 58x to 24x for the Gen 3 computer, a GM reluctor wheel must be purchased separately.
Why does the timing set have a 1x cam gear?
The Rollmaster 11-CS1180 set in this package comes with a 1x upper timing gear, which is the cam signal type the LS2 style front timing cover cam sensor reads in this conversion. The timing set is part of the package so the cam gear and cover sensor are matched.
Which vehicles is this conversion package meant for?
Texas Speed intends it for vehicles that originally came with a Gen III LS engine, such as the 1998 to 2002 Camaro and Firebird, early LS Corvettes and the first LS-powered Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon and Escalade, when a Gen IV LS engine is swapped in.
