The Texas Speed Cleetus McFarland Dumpster Fire Turbo Camshaft is the grind Cleetus McFarland runs in Ruby, his turbocharged C6 Corvette. Texas Speed ground it for stock-stroke turbocharged LS engines with cathedral-port cylinder heads, which covers the 4.8L, 5.3L, 5.7L and 6.0L Gen III and Gen IV engines, and it is meant to work across a wide power range, from a mild 500 rear-wheel horsepower setup to combinations making 1,000 horsepower or more.

The 224/228 duration, .600" lift and wide 114 degree lobe separation angle keep the profile boost friendly with only a mild chop at idle, and Texas Speed estimates a gain of 45 or more horsepower with stock-like manners once the tune is finished. Upgraded valve springs are required, with PAC 1219 or TSP .660" dual springs recommended. Automatics need a 2,800 rpm or higher stall converter and a 3.23 or deeper rear gear. Texas Speed also offers this camshaft inside its single and dual valve spring cam packages.

    FAQ

What engines does the Texas Speed Dumpster Fire cam fit?

The Dumpster Fire is a turbo camshaft for stock-stroke Gen III and Gen IV LS engines with cathedral-port cylinder heads, meaning the 4.8L, 5.3L, 5.7L and 6.0L engines found in 1997 to 2013 GM trucks, SUVs and LS1, LS2 and LS6 cars.

Is the Dumpster Fire cam only for turbocharged engines?

Yes. Texas Speed designed this grind for turbocharged cathedral-port LS engines, and it says the camshaft works from mild 500 rear-wheel horsepower setups up to builds chasing 1,000 horsepower or more.

What valve springs and converter does the Dumpster Fire cam need?

Upgraded valve springs are required, and Texas Speed recommends PAC 1219 springs or its TSP .660" dual valve spring kit. Automatic cars need a 2,800 rpm or higher stall converter, and Texas Speed suggests at least a 3.23 rear gear.

How much power does the Dumpster Fire camshaft add?

Texas Speed estimates an increase of 45 or more horsepower from the Dumpster Fire camshaft. Actual gains on a turbocharged engine depend on boost level, heads, fuel and tuning.

How does the Dumpster Fire cam drive on the street?

Texas Speed rates it as daily driver friendly with a mild chop at idle, and states it will have stock-like driving manners once the engine is properly tuned. The operating range is 2,000 to 6,600 rpm.
